Hi Carlton - totally agree with you, and I think we are on the same page (though it may not have come across in my article). If the subject of the article had done a fraction of what you're talking about (in terms of thinking of those specific details for his app/site), and also acknowledged that he would need or was actively seeking out a technical cofounder or tech team for hire, I would 100% still entertain the idea of working with him - I definitely wouldn't shoot something/someone's idea down until hearing them out fully (to the extent that I'm able to make time). In this case, the person touted himself as the technical founder, hadn't gone into anywhere near the level of detail you're referencing, and was planning to go the whole thing alone. For all those reasons, it was hard to get on board with a not-so-technical founder as the sole founder of the business. It can still be done with an outsourced tech team, but it is more difficult and takes quite a bit longer (I've done this twice), but I think it was all about his approach and how he branded/presented himself. I completely agree that there can be room for a Steve Jobs visionary or "idea person", but he also needs his Wozniak counterpart - and probably best if he acknowledges that gap early on.
